Today, Highland dance touches every corner of the globe -- even as far away as Russia, Japan and Honduras! As a highly competative sport, competitions are held in nearly 20 countries around the world. The MSCDA has sponsored over 60 local competitions since its inception, drawing competitors from around the United States and Canada.
We organize two annual competitions in Minnesota. The first is mid-February at The Scottish Ramble in St. Paul's Landmark Center. The spring competition is held in May at the Scottish Country Fair at the Dakota County Fairgrounds in Farmington, Minnesota.
MSCDA dancers have levels of training and experience that range from Beginners with less than 1 year, to Premier dancers with more than 20 years. Most dancers actively compete in Highland dance competitions held in the United States and Canada.
Many of our dancers have won numerous medals, trophies, and championships -- several have qualifiedy for the USIR National Championship. MSCDA dancers have distinguished themselves in Scotland at local competitions and the World Championships in Cowal, Scotland.
